This is an unsolicited recommendation of this book for any 80s fans. It is called Chasing the Eighties - The Ultimate North American Movie Location Roadtrip.
Here is a link to the website which gives you a better idea about what it is all about. I purchased this book as soon as it became available and it was a very enjoyable read. I found myself very envious of these guys who were able to take this trip. Since Austin is from the UK, there is some slang and some references that were not as common for the U.S., but it was very entertaining nonetheless. It is about "three men careering hopelessly towards the end of their twenties decided to undertake a ridiculous romp of sheer nostalgic indulgence. It was to be one last look back to the glorious past before they decided to be grown ups and think about the present and the future. But first, it was all about Ghostbusters, Goonies, Guttenberg, blood, sweat and Corey Haim. The tour lasted three months and began and ended in Toronto, home of Police Academy." Go to the website to see more, but this was a very unique look back at the 80s. Much different than the average attempt. Just thought I would recommend it to all of you here! Go check it out! |
